According to India Today-ORG- MARG poll, out of 232 universities and 9,500 colleges, 10 have been ranked top on the basis of some criteria. They are St. Stephens , Delhi;Presidency, Calcutta;St Xavier's, Calcutta;Christian College, Chennai; St Xavier's, Mumbai; St Joseph's, Bangalore; Loyola, Chennai; Presidency, Chennai; Brabourne, Calcutta; and Ferguson College, Pune.
This listing was based on the opinions of Principals/Head of departments of various colleges in different cities. The India Today-ORG-MARG poll was orgainsed in 10 cities -- Mumbai, Chennai, Calcutta, Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad,Patna and Pune. It was for more than three days and was among principals, vice-principals, head of departments and deans . 300 respondents were contacted. They were pledged to evaluate every college on each attribute on a scale of 1 to 10. Overall ratings were calculated upon the average rating which the college got on each attribute and the importance of each attribute.
ST STEPHEN'S, DELHI has BA Economics(Hon), as its best course. This has 75% cut-off for Arts and 87 % for Economics. Total number of seats available for students from all over India are 350.
Presidency, Calcutta has 500 total number of Seats for the students with cut-off of 60% with entrance test.
St Xavier's, Calcutta has 600 seats available with Cut-off marks of 60% and entrance test.
Christian College, Chennai provides 250 seats.
St Xavier's, Mumbai offers 300 places for Cut-off of 74%.
St Joseph's, Bangalore has250 Seats available with 72% cut-off.
Loyola, Chennai has 100 seats with cut-off of 80%.
Presidency, Chennai with 800 seats and cut-off of 72%.
Brabourne, Calcutta with 60% cut -off and 55% in English.No admission test is taken.
Ferguson College, Pune has total number of 400 Seats available.
